RADIOHEAD AND SPIRITUALIZED ON THE NPR CONCERT SERIES

THE NPR CONCERT SERIES is just one of many reasons why NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO is one of the greatest media outlets this fine nation has to offer. Thank Gawd McDonaldland Mogul Ray Kroc's Wife died and left this left-leaning organization a fortune a few years back, because I am sure the sale of all those greasy cardboard cheeseburgers made shit like this possible.

This RADIOHEAD show was recorded way back in late August at the utterly beautiful Santa Barbara Bowl and finally released to the public this past Saturday night. You can go to this page just like most of the other episodes they offer and DOWNLOAD the whole 2 plus hour show.

...And as an added bonus to you my Doritos, I added a broadcast of another brilliant band by the name of SPIRITUALIZED taken from their 9:30 Club Show in July. While it isn't as mind-melting as their 1999 CD release LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL (One of the best live albums ever if you're zonked on pharmaceuticals...) it is a fine fine performance.

SPIRITUALIZED SET LIST-
"You Lie You Cheat"
"Shine a Light"
"Cheapster"
"Electricity"
"Soul on Fire"
"Sweet Talk"
"Sitting on Fire"
"Walkin' With Jesus"
"Oh Baby"
"Rated X"
"Lay Back in the Sun"
"Death Take Your Fiddle"
"She Kissed Me (It Felt Like a Hit)"
"Come Together"
"Take Me to the Other Side"

Take some time and check out the site if you can, which features boatloads of other artists recorded in amazing fidelity.

DEAD GOATS- THE NEW E.P.

Hailing from Richmond VA, and featuring former members of bands THE RABBITS and THE KEYONS, DEAD GOATS are an old-school garage band that will for damn sure build a boot shop in your behind. The new single CEMETRY was recorded in Tennessee earlier this year, and is featured on their new self-titled E.P. which means they titled it themselves. If you are ever in the Commonwealth and notice that they are playing one of their trademark rowdy shows, do yourself a solid and check these boys out.

THUNDER plays guitar
KEMPER plays bass
TITO plays drums
SKIDZ plays guitar
THE MANGLER plays tamborine

REPORT FROM THE NEO-CONVENTION

This weeks REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION is a bit more hokey and down-to-earth than their democratic counterparts, but don't be fooled. The foul stench of Karl Rove (Turd Blossom Lives...) and his Beltway Boys can be whiffed from all corners of the World after the amazingly crafty speech by Vice Presidential Nominee SARAH PALIN.

Let's face it, there were no snoozefest oratories, but there were sure some monologues that would angry up the blood. RUDY GUILIANI demonstrated why he is paid a king's ransom to deliver a speech these days. I wish he had worn a dress like he did on SNL. The Benedict Arnold of the Konvention was hands down JOE LIEBERMAN, but let me tell you Neo-Cons; you can have him, we already have MARK WARNER to bore us in that good ol' fashioned AL GORE way.

My favorite news is by far the dissent surrounding the confines of the Convention Center. AMY GOODMAN and some of her DEMOCRACY NOW employees were arrested on Monday, and if you want to read more about that you can check out the latest blog by GREG PALAST.

After these two weeks of watching countless speeches, commercials, pundits, and old ladies dancing, I must say this to you my Doritos...
