Thurston Moore- Demolished Thoughts

Honestly, this is the first of the three solo releases by Thurston that I've bothered to check out, and you know what? I like it. With Hipster Supreme Beck at the boards, it comes across at first as a combination between his very own SEA CHANGE and Nick Drake's FIVE LEAVES LEFT, but once you get past the lush strings and cavernous sound, it is very much a Sonic Youth Record. Long instrumental passages, dissonant chords, and themes of urban dread. "Orchard Street" is a downtown sprawl that could've been an outtake from their classic Daydream Nation, but songs like first single "Benediction" sounds like a whole new direction for Moore. This is truly a beautiful recording, and it works.
